Course Overview:
The importance of preserving bone when extracting teeth has been emphasized in implant treatment. This presentation will review some extraction techniques that can minimize trauma to the alveolar bone and will discuss the rationale for ridge preservation.
A variety of materials available for ridge preservation will be discussed and potential complications of socket grafting will be reviewed.
Educational Objectives
During the course, the participants will be trained in:
- Review techniques to achieve minimally traumatic tooth extractions
- Review hard and soft tissue alterations that occur following tooth extractions
- Review of materials that can be used for ridge preservation and a rationale for using them
- Discuss potential complications of socket grafting
