Dental Braces for All Ages in Winnipeg

At Southwest Specialty Group, we provide professional orthodontic care for people of all ages and requirements. This includes braces for kids, braces for teens and braces for adults.
While orthodontic care has traditionally begun in the childhood years, recent advances in Invisalign® and other ‘hidden’ braces options have made the treatments much more popular with teens and even adults. You can now get the smile of the dreams at any age, without the hassles of metal braces.

Types of Braces

Based on your age, budget and orthondontic requirements, our team of experts will recommend a range of treatment options to give you the best functional and aesthetic results possible. Options include:

Traditional Metal Braces:

Traditional metal braces are made up of a series of metal wires and brackets that are affixed to individual teeth. The braces are slowly adjusted to push and pull teeth into place over longer periods of time. While they are the most visually noticeable type of braces, they are also the least expensive, and the wide range of available colour options makes them an appealing choice for kids.

Ceramic Braces:

Ceramic braces function in the same way as traditional metal braces, only the brackets are made from a clear ceramic material. They are less noticeable than metal braces, and work quicker than Invisalign® and some other newer options.

Lingual Braces:

Lingual braces function the same as metal braces, only they are placed on the inside of the teeth instead of the outside. They are less noticeable than traditional braces, but are more difficult to clean and can be a bit uncomfortable at first.

Invisalign®:

As a Certified Preferred Invisalign® Provider, the Southwest Specialty Group has become Winnipeg’s go-to Invisalign® experts. Unlike traditional bracket and wire braces, Invisalign® treatments are made up of a series of clear retainers that steadily shift teeth into place. These are not available for children, but very popular with teens and adults.

Functional Appliance Therapy:

A functional appliance is a type of removable orthodontic device used to treat growth discrepancies with the jaw, including an underdeveloped lower jaw and misaligned bite. These will often be paired with a fixed appliance like braces.
