A dental bridge is a non-removable, permanent dental appliance that is designed to replace one or more missing teeth, and to keep existing teeth from shifting out of place. A dental bridge is made up of two crowns that will serve as anchors for the fixed appliance and a set of artificial teeth.
Reasons for a Fixed Bridge:
- One or more missing teeth
- To upgrade from a removable partial denture
What does getting a Fixed Bridge involve?
The fixed bridge process takes a number of visits to plan, test and adjust. We will begin by creating a mold of your teeth, and prepare a temporary bridge to protect your teeth while we develop your permanent bridge. Once your new porcelain fixed bridge is fabricated, we will bring you back in to place and test it. We will then temporarily affix the bridge, before permanently cementing it into place at a later date.
Porcelain Crowns (Caps)
Porcelain Crowns, also known as caps, are tooth shaped coverings that fit directly onto the visible portion of damaged teeth. They look and feel just like real teeth, and are designed to both strengthen and protect the tooth’s root. The Southwest Specialty Group team are experts in matching shape, colour and fit to create a crown that perfectly blends in with the rest of your teeth.
Reasons for Crowns:
- Broken, decayed or fractured teeth
- Fractured or large fillings
- Cosmetic enhancements
- A tooth with a root canal
What does getting a Porcelain Crown involve?
The entire crown process will generally take place across two appointments. At your first visit, we will take a detailed mold of your mouth and create a temporary crown to protect the root while we create your permanent one. Once your new crown is ready, we will set it in place, and make any minor adjustment before cementing it in place.
