Course Overview:
The term “endo-perio” lesion has been widely used to describe lesions resulting from an in ammatory process, involving both the periodontium and the pulpal tissues. Pulpal and periodontal complications are the main factors for the majority of extractions today. An endodontic-periodontal lesion can emerge from numerous pathogeneses, with a wide range of complexity. Understanding the interaction between endodontics and periodontics is important for all clinicians, due to the challenges frequently encountered in the diagnosis, treatment plan, and prognosis of the involved teeth. A proper diagnosis often requires a multi-disciplinary approach, and thorough understanding and scienti c knowledge of these lesions. Treatment and prognosis of such lesions is heavily dependent on the etiology, pathogenesis and correct diagnosis of these conditions.
Therefore, this course will focus on the diagnosis, prognosis and decision- making in the treatment of endodontic-periodontal lesions, highlighting an inter-disciplinary approach to achieve a successful outcome.
Educational Objectives
- Identify the etiology and symptoms of endodontic-periodontal lesions.
- Review the tools and methods to be used to reach the proper diagnosis.
- Develop the appropriate treatment strategies for each scenario.
- Review the staging of treatment and the appropriate materials to reach a
successful outcome. - Discuss the prognosis of treatment for the “endo-perio” involved tooth.

salvageable.
