Course Abstract:

During this evidence-based presentation the prevalence, etiology and diagnosis of impacted teeth will be reviewed. Interceptive measures will be demonstrated and an interdisciplinary team approach will be discussed.

The presentations will be a useful review for all members of the dental team from a state-of-the-art diagnostic perspective, as well as prevention and interception, and the exploration of different treatment modalities and options.

Educational Objectives

  • Understand the role of occlusal development and eruption sequence on impacted teeth
  • Diagnose different types and severity of impactions
  • Apply interceptive measures to prevent or alleviate impactions of certain teeth
  • Understand the importance of the interdisciplinary team approach as it relates to periodontal and orthodontic treatment
