Course Overview:

Smile aesthetics have been shown to play a major role in a person’s appearance, self-confidence and social life. Integral to harmonizing smile aesthetics is the perfect integration of facial aesthetics and dental composition. The facial aesthetics include the hard and soft tissues. The dental composition relates to the teeth and gingival tissues. After reviewing the critical elements of dentofacial aesthetics, this lecture will focus on excessive gingival display, better known as “gummy smile”. This presentation will provide insight on the proper diagnosis of the underlying causes of the “gummy smile”, appropriate treatment planning and correct staging in the delivery of treatment. Finally the presentation will review a variety of aesthetic cases, talk about the patient seeking aesthetic procedures in your office, emphasizing the importance of communication between all stakeholders.
